In 1925 Piero Pirelli, then President of AC Milan, urged the construction of a football stadium near the Ippodromo del Trotto. 1926 The structure inspired by the English stadiums was completed in 13 months with a cost of 5 million Italian lire (the equivalent of about 2,500 €).
