The parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp announced a new ban on RT and other outlets, days after the U.S. sanctioned Russian media entities.

“After careful consideration, we expanded our ongoing enforcement against Russian state media outlets: Rossiya Segodnya, RT and other related entities are now banned from our apps globally for foreign interference activity,” Meta said in a prepared statement.

The United States recently imposed sanctions on the parent companies of Russian state media outlet RT, accusing them of acting as an arm of Moscow’s intelligence operations.
