Many people were too scared to talk on camera a night after the shooting on a residential block—and that is part of why community activists say the double murder should be the wake-up call for a profoundly troubling trend.

Two males of unknown age were found about 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 2400 block of South Normal Avenue. One was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital.
