The National Hurricane Center increased the odds that a system could develop in the Caribbean and become the season’s next tropical depression or storm. As of the hurricane center’s 8 a.m. tropical outlook, it said a broad area of low pressure is likely to develop over the southwestern Caribbean Sea in the next few days.

The National Hurricane Center has circled an area in the western Caribbean as an official area of interest. The low-pressure area is expected to form in this region later this week. This area could be further organized and become a tropical depression near the weekend. The NHC is giving this region a 40% chance of development.
