Thousands of activists and leaders of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party have rallied in the nation’s capital to demand a democratic transition through an election as an interim government has yet to outline a timeframe for new voting.

Dhaka witnessed a large demonstration led by activists and leaders from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). The rally called for a clear timetable for new elections amidst ongoing political uncertainty.

Tarique Rahman, BNP’s acting chairman, said that his party supported the interim government’s plans for reforms, but such changes would only be sustained if the people have their say in the process
