With Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid already thinking about the playoffs, the NFL imposed fines on multiple Kansas City Chiefs players apart from Travis Kelce. Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid will have a bye week to prepare for the Divisional Round of the 2025 NFL playoffs.

The Kansas City Chiefs are in action for Week 18, but you’ll notice that Andy Reid is sending out a new-look squad for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos. Star players like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Chris Jones were listed as inactive for the game against their AFC West rivals, and the reason for that is simple:

Before kickoff, Mahomes was officially declared inactive for the game. So were six other Kansas City regulars: tight end Travis Kelce, running back Isiah Pacheco, cornerback Trent McDuffie, defensive end George Karlaftis, tackle Jawaan Taylor and defensive tackle Chris Jones.

Travis's impression was clearly a nod to the notion that Mahomes's voice sounds similar to the Muppets' Kermit the Frog. Mahomes first became known for his similar voice to Kermit in 2018, his first full season as a starting quarterback.

As a result, the Chiefs have opted to rest numerous starters for Sunday, including star tight end Travis Kelce. Other Kansas City starters ruled inactive include Patrick Mahomes, Isiah Pacheco, George Karlaftis, Trent McDuffie, Jawaan Taylor, and Chris Jones.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid dressed up as Santa Claus in the locker room after the Chiefs win over the Steelers on Christmas — and Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes loved it.

The Chiefs' offense doesn't revolve around Kelce as much as in years past, but he should be rested for another playoff run.
