A Black Hole Is Starving Its Galaxy To Death
A Black Hole Is Starving Its Galaxy To Death, But Not How You Think
A galaxy seen by the JWST has confirmed the suspicion that some supermassive black holes can kill their home galaxy. The galaxy in question is around the mass of the Milky Way, but is set on a very different path.
Black hole is starving its host galaxy of star-forming fuel
Astronomers have detected a supermassive black hole starving its galaxy of gas, halting star formation in the early universe.
A black hole ‘starving’ its host galaxy to death
The mass of gas being ejected from the galaxy is more than what’s needed to keep forming new stars. Essentially, the black hole is causing the galaxy to run out of gas and stop star formation, leading to its “starvation” and eventual death.
Look! Astrophysicists Spotted A Supermassive Black Hole Slowly Starving a Galaxy to Death
Using special instruments found on the Webb Telescope, researchers caught a supermassive black hole red-handed.
A black hole is literally "starving" a galaxy to death, new study reveals
Yet like a spiraling whirlpool, a black hole is currently removing so much gas from Pablo's Galaxy that it can no longer normally form stars. Thanks to the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), University of Cambridge researchers led a study in the journal Nature Astronomy revealing the exact amount of gas being uncontrollably pulled into the celestial abyss by the black hole's gravity.
Scientists discover supermassive black hole which is 'starving' an entire galaxy
Astronomers using the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) have spotted a huge black hole that is "starving" its host galaxy to death. GS-10578, more colloquially known as 'Pablo's Galaxy', is a large galaxy nearly 12 billion light-years away and has been known to be unusually 'dead' by astronomers for a while,
Astronomers detect super-massive black hole ‘starving’ its host galaxy to death
Astronomers have confirmed that supermassive black holes can deprive their host galaxies of the gas needed to form new stars, thanks to observations from the NASA/ESA James Webb Space Telescope (Webb).
