A winter storm moved across the East Tennessee on Wednesday, leaving snow across the region. While it’s still snowing in some areas including parts of Knox, Cocke and Blount Counties, the National Weather Service has some preliminary totals for different cities as of Wednesday night.

Ahead of the snow, a winter weather advisory is in place for much of East Tennessee from 2 a.m. to midnight on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Before you hit the road, remove all snow and ice from your windows, roof and lights. The normal following distance when driving is 3-4 seconds. Officials advise you to increase that to 5-6 seconds. This gives you more time to brake in case you hit a slick spot.

TDOT is preparing for winter weather in East Tennessee by pretreating roads and standing by with salt supplies, while urging public caution during the forecasted snowfall.
