Nov. 4 (UPI) --The United States renewed its call on Israel to take action against violent, illegal settlers on Monday after Palestinians in the Occupied West Bank were shot at when they attempted to put out nearly two dozen vehicles that were set ablaze.

The prime minister named Gideon Saar as the new foreign minister, Netanyahu's office said in a statement. Gallant and Netanyahu, both in the right-wing Likud party, have clashed for months over the objectives of Israel's 13-month-old war in Gaza against Hamas.

Israel has intensified military raids and invasions in the occupied West Bank, resulting in the killing of four Palestinians.

Palestinian officials said Israeli forces killed seven Palestinians during separate operations in the West Bank on Tuesday, with the military confirming it had targeted militants. Palestinian attacks on Israelis have also killed at least 24 people in the same period in the West Bank,

The Israeli military said its soldiers had engaged in close combat in the Nur Shams area of the occupied territory.

The Israeli army and illegal settlers committed a series of assaults Friday against Palestinians across the occupied West Bank, according to witnesses. Witnesses told Anadolu that a group of armed settlers opened fire and threw rocks at homes of Palestinians in Surif town near Hebron in the southern West Bank.
