Central Virginia's largest theatre company may have to close its doors for good if it does not get an "immediate infusion" of at least $600,000 within the next 11 days.

Richmond's Virginia Repertory Theatre, the central Virginia region's largest professional theatre, is asking for help from the community to avoid shutting down as it faces significant financial woes.

The company's new leadership team said it uncovered a legacy deficit of $1.7 million and a further deficit of $1.6 million projected for the year to come.
