The Texas Rangers have hired former Miami Marlins manager Skip Schumaker as a senior advisor to president of baseball operations Chris Young, reports the Dallas Morning News. Luis Urueta, Schumaker's bench coach with the Marlins, is also expected to join the Rangers as their bench coach. The team has not yet announced either hire.

The Rangers won a World Series with manager Bruce Bochy ... while the White Sox brought in Will Venable to take over the worst team in MLB. The Marlins job is the only one still vacant, and Schumaker obviously wasn't going there.

Texas also is expected to finalize a deal with Schumaker’s former bench coach in Miami, Luis Urueta, to join the Rangers coaching staff in the same role.
