Despite the arrival of the electric Cayenne, the current gas-powered Cayenne—which has been on sale since the 2019 model year and received a major update for 2024—will stick around. Despite its age, Porsche sold 102,889 examples last year, accounting for almost one out of every three sales at the automaker.

Porsche has confirmed the electric Cayenne will make its debut toward the end of 2025.The announcement came from CEO Oliver Blume during Porsche's year-end financial Q&A session.

That timing would also allow Porsche to follow up the Cayenne Electric with the e718 family, which will eventually replace today's internal combustion Boxster and Cayman lineup. Those models are slated to go out of production in October 2025, so the EV versions might make their debut ths autumn.
