It didn’t take long for that to change in the second half. Nikola Milenkovic headed a James Ward-Prowse free-kick into Chris Wood’s path and the Reds striker poked it home to give the visitors the lead with 49 minutes gone.

The first half was uncharacteristically subdued for Chelsea, with Cole Palmer nearly breaking the deadlock, striking the post after a slick assist from Noni Madueke.
