A stampede at the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, resulted in six deaths as thousands jostled for tickets to a major religious event.

As per reports, the stampede broke out as thousands of devotees queued up at various ticketing centers at Tirupati Temple since Wednesday morning for Vaikuntha Dwara Darshan tickets.

CM N Chandrababu Naidu spoke to officials over the phone about the treatment being provided to the injured in the incident.

The stampede occurred during a 10- day festival at Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple in India's southern state of Andhra Pradesh.
