High winds ripped off the roof a historic 100-year-old church in Elgin overnight. The original church was destroyed by a deadly tornado in 1920.
After the storms clear out, high winds will remain on Saturday, with a high wind warning in effect from 7 a.m. to noon.
A ine of potentially severe thunderstorms is predicted to arrive after 9 p.m., clearing the area by around 3 a.m.
