BJP has appointed Vijender Gupta, MLA from Rohini, as the new speaker of the Delhi Assembly. Gupta, previously the Leader of Opposition, won his seat by over 37,000 votes against AAP’s Pradeep Mittal and has been a prominent figure in Delhi BJP.

Gupta thanked the BJP leadership for choosing him, he said, "I am thankful to the party for giving me the responsibility of Speaker of Delhi Assembly. I will fulfill my responsibility… I hope we will have healthy discussions in the House.
