Thailand deported 40 Uyghurs to China despite appeals from the United States and from rights groups that feared they would be abused.

Thailand and China continue to strengthen their ties across multiple sectors, including society, economy, trade, and investment, said Phinij Jarusombat, former Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Thai-Chinese Cultural Relationship Council (TCCRC).

In the late 2010s, when the economy was growing rapidly, overseas real estate investment by middle-class Chinese surged, with the condominium markets in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Japan attracting large numbers of Chinese buyers eager to diversify their investments and experience new lifestyles.
