Meteorologists say the tropical low is still packing a punch in parts of south-east Queensland and northern NSW ahead of the new working week.

The now ex-tropical cyclone Alfred has been downgraded to a tropical low, according to Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. The emergency vet is stocked with extra fuel for generators, clean water and plenty of food - and is even prepared for pet owners to camp out with their animals.
