Boeing’s 33,000 striking machinists disbanded their picket lines late Monday after leaders of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers district in Seattle said 59% of union members who cast ballots agreed to approve the company’s fourth formal offer, which included a 38% wage increase over four years.

On the eve of the nation’s Presidential election, another important contest also marked by highly divided camps, came to resolution.

Boeing Machinists union approved the latest contract offer from the company Nov. 4, ending a 52-day strike and sending 33,000 members back to work as soon as Wednesday morning. More than 59% of union members International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers voted to accept the latest offer and end the strike.

Unionized factory workers at Boeing are voting on Monday whether to accept a contract offer or to continue their strike. The walkout has lasted more than seven weeks, shut down production of most Boeing passenger planes and cut off a key source of cash for the company.
