The Kansas City Chiefs' trip to Denver was anything but easy. However, Patrick Mahomes and the team has made it home, which is a big relief for the quarterback. And that's because of one very specific reason.

It was negative-4 degrees at kickoff with a wind chill of negative-27 and conditions didn’t improve. Coach Andy Reid’s mustache froze, Patrick Mahomes’ helmet cracked and the Chiefs jumped to a 10-0 lead early and won easily.

With the division title, top seed, and a first-round bye already secured, there’s no reason for the Chiefs to risk their franchise quarterback further injuring his ankle, or picking up another injury. Instead, Mahomes will get two weeks to rest and recover before the team’s Divisional Round playoff game.
