That's due to an injury sustained by Aaron Judge and the Yankees star's subsequent struggles in his return to the lineup.

The race for American League MVP for a while seemed like a foregone conclusion. Unless Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge suffered a significant injury, the award was likely his. Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh just won't go away,

Now, whether he breaks or not is irrelevant in regards to the AL MVP race. It's basically a two-horse race between him and Aaron Judge. Raleigh has the most home runs in all of baseball, so he definitely has a shot to win the MVP award, and he brings a ton of defensive value as a catcher.
