On January 24, a 21-year-old snowboarder went missing at Cypress Mountain Resort, a ski hill in West Vancouver, British Columbia that’s a little over an hour’s drive from Whistler Blackcomb.

The sun shone bright, birds zipped around the sky and tiny, vivid purple, yellow and white flowers flared at my feet.

Charges have been approved in a head-on collision that killed two people, West Vancouver police say. The incident happened on Highway 1 in West Vancouver, B.C., at about 11:40 p.m. on June 26, 2024.
