Kendrick Lamar's explicit call out of his producer Mustard on one of his new tracks has some wondering why he said the word on the beat.

Lamar’s “Mustard” shout out is all over the internet, including brands like McDonald’s, the Minions, and Shrek. There are Simpsons references, Peanuts -style drawings, and TikTok edits. A pastor yelled “Mustard” during a church service, as seen here, and even Lizzo got involved.

In addition to tapping singers SZA and Deyra Barrera, the 17-time Grammy winner used production from frequent Taylor Swift collaborator Jack Antonoff as well as Mustard, the stage name of Dijon Isaiah McFarlane, who produced Lamar’s mega-viral hit “ Not Like Us .”
