The new standalone Porsche SUV model will benefit from "synergies," suggesting a possible collaboration with Audi

Porsche will continue producing gas and hybrid cars alongside EVs well into the 2030s, and a new one arrives this year.

Porsche has already launched the 2025 Macan EV. We can presume that already confirmed products will launch first. We know the electric Cayenne is coming in 2026. And Porsche's new three-row SUV is coming in 2027. So, a 2028 or 2029 launch for the new vehicle would line up with "towards the end of the decade."

Afterwards, Porsche will stick to its plan to sell the Macan purely as an electric SUV. But that leaves a gap in the brand’s line-up for a mid-sized SUV running combustion engines, and today Porsche CEO Oliver Blume announced a new model to fill that hole.

Porsche will add a new Macan-sized SUV with a combustion engine and will develop combustion-engine and plug-in hybrid versions of the Cayenne large SUV and Panamera large sedan “well into the 2030s."

In addition to announcing plans to develop a new gasoline SUV to replace the Macan, the company also expressed its long-term commitment to ICEs. CEO Oliver Blume revealed during the Annual Press Conference that the Cayenne and Panamera will retain gas power "far into the 2030s.

Porsche CEO Oliver Blume has addressed the EV-only Macan shaped elephant in the room with news of a complimentary SUV model line, including internal-combustion variants, set to arrive before the end of the decade.

With EV sales growth cooling, Porsche is now planning to launch a new petrol- and hybrid-powered, SUV to complement the electric Macan.
