Kai Cranmore was on a dayhike near Pacific Palisades with a group of his friends when one of them smelled smoke. Minutes later, they were fleeing as a wildfire spread through the canyon around them.

An estimated 180,000 people have fled their homes this week as firefighters battle to control several deadly wildfires across the Los Angeles area.

Portions of the heavily populated Hollywood neighborhood were ordered to evacuate Wednesday evening as a new fire broke out in the hills above the center of this city battling numerous deadly blazes.
