National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologists have advised people against boating on Lake Mead on Monday as a cold front plunges temperatures and ushers in gusty winds that bring an enhanced risk of danger to boaters.

Hiking trails will reopen on Tuesday, Oct. 1, in Lake Mead National Recreation Area as seasonal closures expire, according to a National Park Service news release.

In conjunction with the trails reopening, community members are invited to join Lake Mead National Recreation Area staff for a restoration event at Goldstrike Canyon Trail. The event will take place on Tuesday, October 1, from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and will focus on removing trash and graffiti along the trail. For questions, contact
