The truce is aimed at winding down the deadliest and most destructive war ever fought between Israel and Hamas, whose Oct. 7, 2023, attack into Israel sparked the fighting.

Israel will release 110 Palestinian prisoners, including prominent terrorist convicts, in exchange for three Israeli hostages. The deal, part of a truce brokered by the US, Egypt, and Qatar, also includes the release of five Thai captives.
