The NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC reported an air quality alert at 11:52 a.m. on Wednesday in effect until Thursday at midnight. The alert is for Northern Jackson and Southern Jackson as well as Henderson County.

Wind is the biggest weather concern for WNC on Friday, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Christiaan Patterson. The wind, combined with a low relative humidity, creates "prime fire weather conditions," which may amplify already raging fires in Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina.
