Sources say AMD will use TSMC's new Arizona fab for the production of new HPC AI chips on the 5nm mode. This move begins an AI chip supply chain in the US, with TSMC and Amkor manufacturing and packaging AMD's high-performance chips.

AMD is reportedly set to make its next-gen, high-perf chips at TSMC's new fab in Arizona, making it the second big client for the new fab after Apple.

It was reported last month that TSMC's new fab in Arizona had begun cranking out 5nm chips for Apple. Now, it is being reported that AMD is following in its footsteps and is in talks with TSMC about producing high-performance computing (HPC) chips for it in 2025.

AMD is reportedly set to make its high-performance computing chips at TSMC’s Fab 21 in Phoenix, Arizona. Following in Apple’s footsteps, independent journalist Tim Culpan reported that AMD and TSMC had confirmed the agreement on October 7, although the chip manufacturer declined requests for comment on the deal.
