The classmates of 18-year-old high school student Bryce Gerlach, who was killed at a Harvest Homecoming event in Indiana on Saturday, Oct. 12, say that they believed he had died while shielding a group of his friends at the event.

The shooting began just before 10 p.m. Saturday near State Street and Black Avenue where the rides for the festival were set up, less than a block from the Ohio River and the Indiana-Kentucky

Students from Floyd Central High School and New Albany High School wore orange in support of the Corydon High School kicker who was killed near Harvest Homecoming.
