Federal agents took Skyler Philippi, 24, into custody moments before he allegedly planned to strike a Nashville power grid.     According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), Philippi had a drone powered up and armed with explosives.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Columbia man is charged with trying to use a drone to take down a power facility in Nashville.

A Columbia man has been arrested by federal agents after planning to bomb a Nashville electrical substation as part of a white supremacist plot, according to the Department of Justice.

According to the Justice Department, Skyler Philippi, 24, of Columbia, Tennessee, planned to fly a drone mounted with explosives into a substation.

A 24-year-old man with ties to white supremacist movements was arrested after allegedly plotting to use an explosive drone to attack a Nashville power plant.

Skyler Philippi, 24, "believed he was moments away from launching an attack on a Nashville energy facility to further his violent white supremacist ideology – but the FBI had already compromised his plot,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said on Tuesday.

The DOJ reports that he planned to use a drone with explosives attached to it and fly the drone into the substation.
