A snowboarder died after being caught in an avalanche near Silverton on Thursday. A skier who was also in the avalanche was able to escape. According to a report from the Colorado Avalanche Information Center,

The victim was traveling on a terrain feature known as The Nose near Silverton, Colo., when the avalanche occurred on Thursday, officials said.
