The commissioner is considering a petition to have Rose posthumously removed from MLB’s permanently ineligible list.

Rose most recently applied for reinstatement in 2015, an appeal rejected by Manfred in his first year as commissioner.

Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred said he discussed former Cincinnati Reds player and career hits leader Pete Rose with President Donald Trump at a meeting earlier in April and plans to rule on a request to end a permanent ban of Rose, who died last September.
