The striking teachers in Marblehead are set to face $50,000 fines after an Essex Superior Court judge’s ruling.

Marblehead Public Schools will reinstate athletics and extracurriculars as teacher strikes drag on, the district reported Thursday, allowing this weekend's high school football playoff game to continue.

Classes will be canceled again on Wednesday for nearly 10,000 students as the teachers’ strike continues across three North Shore communities. Educators across Beverly, Gloucester and Marblehead are refusing to return to the job until a new contract is reached with their local school committees.
