Sixers-Timberwolves preseason: second half thread
The Minnesota Timberwolves made the Western Conference Finals last spring then decided to shake things up. Having recently traded Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks for Julius Randle, and Nova alum Donte DiVincenzo, Wolves’ head coach Chris Finch will look to stymie Paul George in his own Sixers’ preseason debut; of course that might open things up for Tyrese Maxey. The 2023-2024 All-Star guard on a newly minted max-extension had 15 points on 4-5 from 3PT in just 12 minutes vs. the New Zealand Breakers earlier this week. You may not be able to actually watch this game as it is not being televised on NBCS-Philly as per usual. But it will be available on NBA League Pass, and of course you can hop in your car, throw back the clock, and listen along on the local radiowaves. DiVincenzo is in Julius Randle isn’t ready to roll just yet. Though George will play, Joel Embiid did not make the trip, per The Inquirer’s Keith Pompey. According to Sixers’ Head Coach Nick Nurse, Embiid is having “a scheduled assessment” on his surgically repaired knee. This was all part of Embiid’s ramp-up plan as the team eases him into action, per Nurse.
