Former Florence High School standout Grant Taylor began his Major League Baseball career on Tuesday night by delivering a 101.5-mph pitch to the plate in the Chicago White Sox’s American League game against the Houston Astros.

Miguel Vargas sat at his locker following the White Sox's 4-3 loss to the Astros Thursday night at Daikin Park sporting torn leggings underneath his uniform pants and scraped up, slightly bloody knees on both sides.

The Sox called up Taylor on Tuesday from Double-A Birmingham and designated right-hander Bryse Wilson for assignment.
