Officials noted that McDermott has an extensive arrest history in Flagler County dating back to 2013. Prior to this incident, he had been released from the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on December 17, 2024, after serving a 90-day sentence for possession of fentanyl.

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A man was arrested after pulling a gun on a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputy on Dec. 5. Officials said on that day just after midnight, a deputy was patrolling the W-Section of Palm Coast when he saw a 38-year-old man on the sidewalk along Pine Lakes Parkway standing next to a bike on the ground.
