Many people are doing an end-run around their doctor's office, reaching out to potentially unreliable sources that promise to set them up with Wegovy, Zepbound and other weight-loss drugs.

In July, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned that people are overdosing on compounded semaglutide injectable products.

"Weight loss medications are not one size fits all and patients should always discuss options with a trusted medical professional," one expert told Newsweek.

Around 25 percent of U.S. adults said they would consider using prescription weight loss medications, like Ozempic or Wegovy, without consulting their doctor, according to a new study from The Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center.
