The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy snowfall in the northern mountains of Colorado this weekend, with up to two feet predicted on Rabbit Ears Pass near Steamboat Springs.

Colorado's first big winter storm of the season is in full swing this Wednesday morning, delivering the heaviest snowfall just in time for the commute and causing slow, slick travel along the I-25 corridor and the foothills.

National Weather Service forecasts are calling for up to 10 inches of snow in Colorado’s northern mountains between 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, according to a winter weather advisory.

Winter storm advisories and winter storm warnings are in effect until 11 p.m. Saturday, at which point, the mountains will see from 6 to 24 inches of fresh snow. Rabbit Ears Pass could top out closer to 30 inches of snow.
