The views were amazing! We took a ton of photos. We also ate at the restaurant here--it was good. Fried feta appetizer was delish. Portions were huge! Full review by KSRtraveling

In April, I visited the Temple of Poseidon at Sunion using public transportation. It is definitely doable by public bus. The trip is about two hours each way, and not too expensive. If I remember correctly, the ticket for the round trip was about 25 Euros. The trip is largely along the sea shore, so get a seat on the right hand side of the bus facing front to enjoy the views. This is a local bus, not express, so there are lots of stops along the way. I had good guidebooks on my Kindle, so I got all the information I needed on my own. The restaurant/snack bar at the site is well run and reasonably priced. The toilets are open to all and beautifully renovated and kept clean and well-supplied. Check the bus schedule on line to find out where to get the bus and plan to spend an hour or two at the site -- that was plenty of time for me. The bus terminal in Athens was easy to find, though it took a while to find the stop for Sounion!
