WEBMar 9, 2022 · Ultrasone Edition 8 is the best sounding closed back under 500 used. It's so great I have two of them. One of my absolute favorites even when comparing to open back options - I love their sound signature. You'd have to search the used market for a pair. They sound fantastic without any separate amp too.

The only thing you need to consider is that you have a competent amp that can handle low ohm headphones and has enough power. Then it's a good blast as headphones. You wouldn't go wrong with the Ify Hip Dac 2 or Gryphon.

WEBOct 7, 2021 · Since you are looking for a neutral/flat closed-back headphone I would not recommend the ATH-M50X, especially if looking to use in a recording studio environment for critical frequency listening. There may be some details in the midrange and high frequencies that are masked out by the powerful bass response of these headphones.
